Virginia College at Huntsville, Alabama's Criminal Investigations class recently participated in a mock crime scene investigation. The "crime" was a triple homicide with two possible suspects detained. The students had to gather evidence in a proper manner and turn it over to the prosecutor to see if they had enough evidence to go to trial. Each of the students had hands-on participation and was assigned a specific job to handle. Later this month, the department will host a mock SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) event, arranged by Amanda Gentle, Academic Advisor for Legal Studies, during the quarterly Student Appreciation Day events.
