Culinard Catering Named Exclusive Caterer for New Golf Club

Culinard Catering is now officially the exclusive caterer for events held at the new Ballantrae Golf Club at Pelham, near Birmingham. The Pelham City Council last week approved a resolution authotizing the Virginia College-affiliated catering company to the be the sole provider of food and beverages to the city-owned golf club. The city agreed to a five-year contract.

Butch Byrd, the director of golf at Ballantrae, told the council according to The Birmingham News, "If people are thinking about where to play golf, this could be the trigger" to convince them to come to Ballantrae. The city says as many as 4,000 homes are expected to be built in the area of the club.

Culinard Catering is also exclusive caterer for the Pelham Civic Complex and the Alta Vista Hotel in Birmingham, and works with other venues such as Ross Bridge Hotel and Resort, located on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Oxmoor Valley course. The company is one of the larger catering providers in the Central Alabama area and, while it is professionally operated and hires its staff from a variety of sources, Culinard Catering also offers culinary students from Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College, an opportunity for employment as part of their educational experience.
