Oct 1, 2010

Students at San Diego's Golf Academy of America recently helped comedian Will Ferrell raise over $200,000 to send cancer survivors to college.

The 16th annual Cancer for College Golf Classic attracted nearly 250 golfers and 500 dinner guests who came together to raise funds for cancer survivors. Over 30 Golf Academy of America students provided volunteer labor for the Rancho Bernardo event including registration, hole-contest monitoring, and dinner security.

Cancer for College is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide hope and inspiration to cancer survivors and amputees by providing college scholarships.

Golf Academy of America, with locations in San Diego, Phoenix, Myrtle Beach and Orlando, is owned and operated by Education Corporation of America (ECA). Other ECA schools include Virginia College, online programs of Virginia College, Ecotech Institute, and Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College.
