Culinard Students Meet Iron Chef Bobby Flay

Students from Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College in Birmingham, recently took a few minutes from cooking school to meet "Iron Chef" Bobby Flay. In addition to being a critically-acclaimed chef, Flay is also a restaurateur, award-winning cookbook author, and television personality.

Chef Flay was in town to promote his new book, Throwdown. This new cookbook presents popular recipes from the hit Food Network show of the same name.

In Throwdown (the show), Chef Flay is on a secret mission to challenge the absolute masters in different kinds of cooking: BBQ, baked goods, pizza, and more. In each episode, a cook thinks Food Network is shooting his or her profile for a show. What they don't know is that Flay will drop in for a surprise visit and challenge them to an unexpected cook-off. His new book includes dishes from some of these friendly competitors.
