Arizona and Florida Events: Golf Academy of America

Dec 13, 2010

Phoenix's Golf Academy of America was recently recognized by the Southwest Section PGA for its support of the 2010 AIA Boys & Girls Division 1 and 2 State Golf Championships.

The golf school, which recently moved to a new campus in Chandler, AZ, regularly provides student volunteers for golf events in the area. GAA coordinated this event, provided lunches for the participants on the first day, and provided each with a golf towel.

GAA in Orlando celebrated Veterans Day at the beautiful Red Tail Country Club in the first Veterans Day Challenge. A total of 40 students participated in this event, some of whom are pictured above. Teams were split into Navy (which won the inaugural event), Air Force (coming in second), and Army.

Richard Castonguay led the way for Navy. The best offensive awards (closest to the pin) went to Steve Sullivan, Robert Pearsall, Jesse Barber, and Vic Smith.

Campus Director Brad Turner conducted a short game clinic for the students and was sure to recognize the best short game shots of the day from Joey Rogers, Troy Kyle, Mike Deleo, and Gordon Misner.
