Day of Caring lets Charleston students help area nonprofits
Jan 5, 2011
Student organizations of Charleston's Virginia College campus recently put their holiday spirit to work and helped three Charleston-area nonprofit organizations. The "Day of Caring" was coordinated by Student Services Associate (and Virginia College alumnus) Gwendolyn Fleming.
Some of the activities:
- Services were provided to clients of My Sisters House, a Charleston women's shelter, by the Cosmetology students' Skill Builders Club, the Student Veterans Chapter, and the "V" Massage students.
- Wrapped Christmas gifts were distributed to patients at Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Hospital with money raised by the Student Veterans Chapter.
- Toys were donated to the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Centers by The RX Factor (Pharmacy Club).
To add to the holiday spirit, the AOM Club gave away two holiday box dinners and the Voices of VC sang Christmas carols on campus.
