Golf Academy of America's Eberlein wins PGA honor

Tim Eberlein, Campus Director at Golf Academy of America in Phoenix, has won the Horton Smith Award from the PGA of America for the Southwest Section.

The prize is awarded by the PGA of America Advisory Committee to members who exemplify the PGA's dedication to golf education programs in its 41 sections.

Horton Smith was a PGA World Golf Hall of Fame inductee and a 37-year member of the PGA. He served as the association's president from 1952-54 and devoted much of his time to improving educational programs. A two-time Masters Champion and winner of its inaugural event, Smith represented the U.S. on seven Ryder Cup teams and never lost a match.

Eberlein, a PGA Master Professional, became a PGA of America member in 1994. He worked at Brynwood Country Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was a previous winner of the Horton Smith Award from the Southern California PGA chapter. He graduated from Golf Academy of America in 1991 and was Campus and Placement Director in San Diego before relocating to Arizona.
