Virginia College students are givers

Virginia College's Richmond students and staff recently donated 30 units of blood in their first Virginia Blood Services drive. The 32 donors helped beat the initial goal of 24 units.

Virginia College in Huntsville student organizations Pass It On and VC Business Club recently collaborated with area businesses to assist earthquake and tsunami recovery efforts in Japan.

First, they connected with Morris South, a local company that was part of a network getting supplies to Japan. The Virginia College students and staff donated 15 boxes of clothes to assist in relief efforts.

Then Campus President Jim Foster issued a bigger challenge: raise enough money to buy 100 cases of water to send to Japan. Kroger's assisted the cause by offering a discount on the water and loading it for transport. The challenge was met and the clothing and water were sent. Great job, Huntsville!
