Virginia College in Huntsville recently welcomed U.S. Congressman Mo Brooks (R-AL) with a tour of the facility and a mini town hall meeting with employees at the school's new location on Drake Avenue. Rep. Brooks serves the Fifth District of Alabama.
"We are delighted to have the opportunity to share with Rep. Brooks our state-of-the art facilities and allow him to meet the Virginia College team that prepares our graduates for direct entry into today's workforce," said Campus President Jim Foster. "We are particularly proud of the significant number of graduates who have been successfully placed with our area's government, high-tech and government-contractor employers."
"It was a pleasure to tour Virginia College, meet its staff and faculty and learn more about how they prepare students to become successful members of the workforce," said Rep. Brooks. "I also enjoyed hearing how the college builds relationships with area employers to ensure that programs the college offers meet their training and employment needs. It's an impressive facility and it shows that Virginia College is good at what they do."
Congressman Brooks was sworn into office this past January and currently serves on the House Armed Services, Homeland Security, and Science, Space and Technology committees. During his town hall meeting with employees, he discussed the current state of the economy and took questions from Virginia College students on a variety of topics.
The tour showcased the newly-renovated 49,872 sq.-ft. campus featuring computer labs for 3D Imaging and Design, Network Engineering and Network Management, and a Criminal Justice lab. The facility also includes Pharmacy Tech and healthcare labs, classrooms, and retail areas offering cosmetology and therapeutic massage services.
