Recently, Marilyn Williams of the Virginia College online division in Tampa ("Team Tampa") was awarded The Golden Sneaker award for her service in the Walk to Cure Diabetes and the 2012 Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation campaign.
Above, Team Tampa General Manager Glenn Robinson accepts the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation award on behalf of Team Tampa for the 2012 JDRF campaign. From January through March, the online division hosted several fundraisers for the JDRF including a hot dog sale, a Valentine's carnation sale and a silent auction. Tampa placed second in funds raised by local schools for 2012.
Finally, sunny weather set the perfect tone for Team Tampa's fourth-annual Fun in the Sun BBQ with loads of food, fun music and challenging games. The ribs, smoked chicken and sides were catered by Smokey Bones.
GM Glenn Robinson refereed a hula-hoop contest, a corn toss rally and a basketball toss contest in which the women beat the men.
Team Tampa was joined by several special guests including EVP/COO Stan Banks, VP/Academic Operations Rita Chubick, VP/Admissions Christy Johnson, SVP/Admissions Jeff Herle, GM/Military Student Center Mike Betz and Dean of Faculty Joe Lucero.
