World Water Day event successful despite Denver snow

World Water Day at Ecotech Institute

Water of a frozen kind threatened to keep Ecotech Institute from celebrating World Water Day on March 23, but it wasn't enough to keep hardy Denver-area natives from visiting the campus on a snowy Saturday.

Aurora's Channel 8 captured some of the fun in this video segment.

The two-hour event included conservation demonstrations by Sonne Shields, first female winner of HGTV's "All American Handyman." Door prizes were also awarded and Aurora Water conservation specialists shared information for kids and adults.

In addition to displaying entries from the children's art contest (on the theme, "What does water mean to you?"), the faculty and staff of Ecotech Institute gave demonstrations on renewable energy and sustainability, areas of expertise for the Aurora, Col.-based college.
