Baton Rouge and Birmingham campuses give back
Apr 30, 2013
In Baton Rouge, Virginia College-style teamwork led to a happier Easter recently for clients at the Domestic Violence Center.
Medical Assistant students (left to right) Kevea Kinchen, Jamie Conrad, Terri Penny, Donte Watson and Vanessa Hayward assembled and delivered Easter baskets to the nonprofit organization under the leadership of Pharmacy Technician instructor Catha Bradford. The baskets contained personal hygiene products, socks, toothbrushes, hair products and other items.
The Birmingham campus held a blood drive with Life South in April. Students and staff members from all programs on campus donated, for a total collection of 53 units. The Nursing department generously donated their classroom as the donation center.
Also in Birmingham, David Grier, Student Services Associate, appeared on CBS 42 recently to promote the Friends and Family Open House benefiting Central Alabama Food Bank. View the video here.
