Birmingham Virginia College students and staff take a Heart Walk

On Saturday, June 23, Virginia College Birmingham students and staff participated in the annual Heart Walk to benefit the American Heart Association. The Heart Walk took place in downtown Birmingham at the new Uptown Entertainment District. An estimated 7,000 people participated in the walk which raised a total of $486,156.
Led by Pharmacy Technician Program Director Chanel Fort and the Student Services Department, fundraising efforts on campus exceeded the $500 goal with a grand total of $1,413. This goal was achieved through the generosity of Virginia College students and staff who bought popcorn, nachos and cookies in the weeks leading up to the Heart Walk. Special thanks go to Surgical Tech student Eric Starr and Associate Dean of Nursing Michelle Stubbs for their substantial contributions.
