Culinard in Greenville graduates create memorable Grand Buffet
Mar 31, 2014
Winter term graduating students at Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College in Greenville were tasked with creating dishes for a Grand Buffet as part of their final exam. Held each quarter, the Grand Buffet is an opportunity for graduates to demonstrate what they have learned – and this Grand Buffet was one to remember.
"I was truly proud of my team and all of the students," says Greenville Program Director Chef Mark Bergstrom. "Pastry added a great flair and the event truly showed the talent our program has to offer. It feels good to celebrate with my team and our students and all had fun while learning a lot about setting a buffet, action stations and presentation. One of the restaurant owners came and was blown away. He could not stop talking about how over the top this event was."
This quarter's Grand Buffet was enjoyed by around 100 invited guests, including the families and friends of the Culinard graduates, future students, restaurant owners and others from the community. "The entire Greenville culinary team led the event with a passion and dedication that could not be measured," says Chef Bergstrom. "I consider myself lucky to be a part of such an amazing team."
