Marrapodi will describe how NECB uses its learning management system to train faculty
BOSTON – May 5, 2014 – New England College of Business (NECB), named for the past three years as the lowest tuition among all private four-year colleges in New England (U.S. Department of Education College Affordability and Transparency Center, 2011-2014) and a leading institution of online education designed for working adults seeking career advancement, today announced that its Director of eLearning, Jean Marrapodi, will speak at the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) Expo, held from May 4 through May 7 in Washington, D.C. The Expo brings together 9,000 training and development professionals from around the globe. During her presentation, Marrapodi will discuss how NECB uses its online learning management system, Canvas, to provide interactive training sessions and workshops for faculty.
"As a college that promotes interactive learning, it is important to create faculty training programs that mirror our immersive, collaborative student experience," said Marrapodi. "Through the Canvas Learning Management System, our faculty can stay connected and share best practices while continuing to hone their skills."
At the ASTD Expo, Jean will elaborate on how the e-learning team at NECB took faculty training from monthly teleconferences to quarterly interactive workshops, creating an interactive portal for just-in-time assistance. Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to attend keynote speeches from Arianna Huffington, editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group, General Stan McChrystal, former commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan and the former leader of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and Kevin Carroll, author and founder of Kevin Carroll Katalyst/LLC, a consulting firm in which he works on creative campaigns with clients from Disney to ESPN.
"NECB constantly strives to help working adults advance their careers, and our faculty training is a critical component of our student success," said NECB President Howard Horton. "The interactive, mutually beneficial approach we take to training is just as applicable in the corporate world as it is in the education sector."
