The Richmond campus recently held a Career Services event to enhance the relationship between Career Services and students. Pictured above are Yesmir Hall (business student), Krystal Bruce, (MA student), Tanisha Farissier, (MA student), Steve Hippeard (Market Development Manager) and Tabatha Hargrove (Student Career Development Specialist).
Montgomery Cosmetology students, led by Program Director Carroll Ann Bonner and instructor Lawanna Quarles, showed up and showed out at the Senior Citizen's Harvest Day recently, giving haircuts and manicures. The students were well received by the sponsors and the senior citizens enjoyed the pampering.
David Adams, Richland County Treasurer (above, second from left), recently visited the Columbia campus and Campus President Nick Foong (far right).
Also in Columbia, Cosmetology instructor and Army veteran Robert Minder, attended the Golf Academy of America Veterans Golf Clinic last March. He commented:
"I first off want to start off by saying thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent Virginia College at the Golf Academy of America Veteran Golf Clinic. I really enjoyed the experience meeting new veterans as well as company representatives. I brought my 13-year old son along with me to share in the experience and boy let me tell you, he really enjoyed himself. They had a drawing and he actually won a gold club. It was a positive experience for others to see my son and I and some of the veterans said they will bring their sons next time."
The Birmingham campus recently held a Student Appreciation event. Students were able to bring their family members and friends, enjoying grilled hamburgers and hot dogs cooked by Culinard students. The Cosmetology department offered face painting and manicures to attendees and the Massage Therapy department offered chair massages. Gift cards and a laptop were awarded as door prizes.
