Virginia College announces national partnership with Great Clips

Sep 12, 2014

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Virginia College recently announced a national partnership with Great Clips, the world's largest salon brand that will now be an integral partner of the school's cosmetology programs. With more than 3,500 salons and 35,000 stylists throughout the United States and Canada, Great Clips will increase scholarship and career opportunities for students as a partner of Virginia College.

"We are excited about this national partnership between Virginia College and Great Clips," said Scot Stapleton, Senior Vice President - Career Services at Education Corporation of America, parent company of Virginia College. "We are always looking for ways to improve opportunities for our students, and partnering with an industry leader like Great Clips will open doors and provide resources for students in our cosmetology programs."

Great Clips awarded $100,000 in cosmetology school scholarships this year, including two $1,000 scholarships to Virginia College students. In addition to these scholarship opportunities, the partnership with Great Clips also adds to Virginia College Career Services' network of over 40 well-known employers and organizations which allows students access to real-world work experience through program-specific externships and internships.

Virginia College currently offers cosmetology certificate and diploma programs at 25 of its campuses and provides students with a solid background of practical hands-on training directly related to the cosmetology industry while preparing them to take the State Board of Cosmetology licensing examination.

Students in these programs gain real-world experience working at V's Salon, a retail outlet operated by Virginia College for the benefit of cosmetology students. V's allows students to learn the skills and disciplines creativity they will need to be successful in their cosmetology careers, and all work is performed by Virginia College cosmetology students under the direct supervision of licensed cosmetology instructors.

Virginia College also partners with Pivot Point International as a Member School to bring the best possible cosmetology training methods to its students. The Pivot Point Member School Program encompasses an all-inclusive cosmetology curriculum, delivered through a systematic, hands-on approach utilizing the most contemporary delivery methods available.
