Golf Academy of America Director and PGA Master Professional Tim Eberlein Receives Horton Smith Award for Improving Golf Industry Education

PHOENIX, February 11, 2015 – The Southwest PGA Section has announced Tim Eberlein, campus director of the Golf Academy of America's Phoenix, Ariz. campus, as the recipient of the 2015 Horton Smith Award. Eberlein, received the award for his contributions to improving education opportunities for PGA golf professionals.
During the four years that Eberlein served as education chair of the Southwest Section PGA Board of Directors, he coordinated 40 PGA section education seminars and two education/teaching summits.
"One of the highlights of being both campus director at Golf Academy of America and education chair of the PGA section is the opportunity to help enhance the student experience and provide opportunities for growth with the PGA," said Eberlein. "I'm thankful for a position that allows me to positively impact our students and PGA members and I'm honored to accept the Horton Smith Award."
Eberlein holds several other awards, including the 2015 KZG "World Top 100 Club Fitter," the 2013 Henry-Griffiths "Master Club Fitter," as well as the 2010 Horton Smith Award for Excellence in Education from the Southwest PGA Section and the San Diego Chapter in 1998. He is also a PGA Master Professional and holds extensive experience in tournament operations and golf management.
